Unity Point Health Meriter Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Gathering Garden

The Meriter department for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (Madison, Wisconsin) includes a “gathering garden,” where patients may enjoy nature in a safe setting.  The courtyard includes cheerful colored blooms at grade and in their vertical garden.  A green wall offers a way to provide security in a manner that feels less confined than a traditional walled-in area.

UnityPoint Health – Meriter offers the only community-based inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry program in south central Wisconsin. Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) serves young people ages 6-18 with severe behavioral health challenges such as depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and self-harming behaviors.

The living wall measures 12 feet wide and 6 feet tall, using the LiveWall Standard-sized planters.  The plants will be changed seasonally.  In the photos pictured above, fall mums line the green wall planters.
